Matthew 16:13-16 June 28, 2009 Jack Wald When Mary went to see Elizabeth after her encounter with the angel Gabriel, Mary was just another pregnant Palestinian. If someone had seen her as she walked toward Elizabeth and Zechariah’s house they would not even have noticed that she was pregnant. But Elizabeth greeted her with a word of prophecy. (Luke 1:41-42) When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. 42 In a loud voice she exclaimed: “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear!
When Jesus was born in a cave in Bethlehem, he was just another birth to be counted in the Roman census. But then angels appeared to shepherds and a year later wise men showed up to reveal that Jesus was more than just another birth. |

Serve as Christ served... Can we work to be a blessing to our brothers and sisters in the Lord? Can we serve our neighbors, our friends, strangers, our enemies? Can we honor and serve our parents? Can we serve and bless our employers? Serving others is what Christ has called us to. Serving is part of being a blessing. When we serve others we are blessed. If you can control your tongue... you can control your destiny. Continuing in the "Blessing" series, Pastor Chris taught on speaking the blessing on April 26. We must learn to speak the blessing by learning God's word and speaking it. We must stop all negative speech, perverse speech and immoral speech. Speak only what Christ would say and how he would say it - remember we are His ambassadors! We can speak a blessing to God - bless his name, thank him, tell him you love him! (Psalm 103) We can speak a blessing to others - encourage yourself in the Lord as David did (I Sam. 30:6), speak God's word over people and bring a spiritual emphasis to your work (Amos 3:7, Prov. 12:14) Learn more about speaking the blessing... we are blessed so we can bless others and what we say (or don't say) can be a huge blessing! |

Happy Birthday CIPC ! The CIPC body celebrated 11 years - God has blessed us greatly. We are grateful to those who have gone before us. We are grateful for all those among us now. A wonderful praise and testimony service was held Friday, April 15th. It was a beautiful time of worship and hearing personal stories of what God is doing in lives and in CIPC. On Sunday, during the weekly service - the worship was wonderful. Pastor Chris taught on the new thing that God is doing. (Isaiah 43:19) There is no need to forget the past but we must not restrict in our thinking the way that God is going to work in the future. Do you want to be the friend of Jesus? The week before Jesus died he was surrounded by a crowd cheering him on, wanting him to be their king. In just a week, that same crowd was calling for his death sentence! We must fix our eyes on Jesus, focus on him to draw near and be considered his friend.
